With “Happy Blues” RSCDS Pretoria celebrates its Blue Sapphire anniversary.

It is a publication filled with happy memories, exciting music and new dances by Terry Lynne Harris, Andrew and Heather Hodgson, Urisa Reungsuwan, Wouter Joubert and Liebet Joubert.

The thirty dances, for the most part, fall within the intermediate spectrum of dancing expertise and there is an almost perfect balance between Jigs, Reels and Strathspeys.

Like all our previous publications this book is illustrated and each illustration aims to match its dance in some way - telling a story or just revealing a face.

Many of the dances contain formations that we don’t encounter all that often in newer dances. These include schiehallion reels, the spurtle, allemande to the right, la baratte, and highland scottische pousette.
